A Summary of Craps Rules

Craps RulesCraps is a very popular game played within the casino industry. Within land-based casinos one would typically find the craps table to be one of the most happening areas of the casino. With the incredible boom of the Internet, online casinos have taken the industry by storm and as such, this thrilling game is now available online from almost anywhere! So if you are keen to know more about craps rules, then read on as a summary of this exciting game is outlined below.

Mostly important, the aim of online craps is to place bets on numbers or a combination of numbers that will be rolled by a pair of dice – which are six-sided. Once a player places his or her bet then, in a land-based casino, the dealer will cover these. In addition to this bet being placed and subsequently covered, other proposition bets may also be offered by the casino.

Within the game of land-based craps there are four fundamental roles that are carried out by separate people. Firstly there is what is referred to as, the ‘boxman.’ This is someone who will be in the center of the craps table and he will keep a watchful eye over the game from beginning to end. He is responsible for any games that get played at that table. On either side of him are two dealers. These dealers will be accepting the bets, control any payouts due and keep any losses. More than one player can participate in craps on one table simultaneously. This is made possible by the dealer on the one side dealing to players on his end, with the same principle applying to the other.

Thirdly, there is the ‘stickman’, who stands on the side of the players. He is responsible for keeping the speed of the craps game at the right tempo as well as controlling the action of the craps dice.

Once a player has placed his or her bet, then the ‘stickman’ will offer the player a number of dice. Once the player has selected a pair then he or she throws them across the craps table so that they hit the wall on the opposite end. If the player roles an ’11′ or ’7′ first time round, then he or she wins. If the dice roll a ’2′, ’3′, or ’12′ after the first throw then this is called ‘craps’, which is a loss, although the player continues to the throw the dice he or she ‘sevens out’. If on the first throw a player rolls a ’4′, ’5′, ’6′, ’8′, ’9′ or ’10” then this is the players ‘box point. This means the player has to roll again until that number appears again. If a seven is thrown instead then the player looses.
